Kinien de Don Raul was named in honor of Argentinean wine visionary, Raul de la Mota, who produced the first vintage of this wine in 2005. Ruca Malen continued to produce this wine in limited quantities adopting the same practices as its originator. Despite careful selection directly in the vineyard, the grapes are further sorted upon reception at the winery to ensure the use of only the finest fruit. Each varietal is vinfied separately and aged for 18 months in 90% new French oak and 10% new American oak barrels. After extensive barrel tasting, the assemblage is conducted using only barrels of the highest quality. The nose opens with intense, jammy aromas of blackberries and plums accented by sweet spices and backed by toasted vanilla and caramel notes. Kinien de Don Raul is an impactful, elegant wine with concentrated flavors and round tannins.
