Since 1991, Masciarelli has been producing the Marina Cvetic line of wines, named after Gianni Masciarelli’s wife, who worked closely with him through the years. They reflect the estates most innovative and contemporary style of winemaking. The Marina Cvetic vineyard is located at San Martino in the coolest part of the DOC, adjacent to Villa Gemma, Masciarelli’s finest vineyard. The planting is dense, the pruning rigorous and the cropping very low, resulting in wines of great concentration and character.
|Sourced from seven different vineyards, the fruit was macerated for 20-30 days and fermented for 15-20 days in stainless steel. The wine aged for 12-18 months in new French oak barriques.
|The estate was founded in 1981 by Gianni Masciarelli, a pioneer wine producer in his native region of Abruzzo who raised the quality and reputation of the local grape varieties -the red Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and the white Trebbiano d'Abruzzo. Masciarelli's wines, hich have earned numerous Gambero Rosso awards, appeal to expert and novice alike. The wines are worthy of the memory of Gianni, who worked tirelessly to secure his legacy as one of the true innovators in the Italian wine industry before his untimely passing in summer of 2008. Today, Masciarelli is the largest organically farmed estate in Italy.
