Color: Deep garnet red with purple hues.
Nose: Aroma of red fruit, raspberry, black currant and spice
Palate: Round, elegant flavors with concentrated tannins and a long finish. Serve with roast beef, lamb and other hearty meat dishes. Suitable for the finest meat entrees.
Wine Advocate 90 points - For starters, there are 1,627 cases of the 2009 Ermitage Monier de la Sizeranne. Lots of peppery, meaty notes are found in this dense purple-colored 2009 along with sweet tannin, a full-bodied, layered mouthfeel and outstanding purity. Three to five years of cellaring will be beneficial, and the wine should keep for two decades. (Dec 2011)
Wine Spectator 94 points - A very rich, authoritative style, with broad structure and lots of cocoa and dark fig paste notes leading the way for ample charcoal, roasted alder, espresso and steeped black currant fruit. Rich and long, this has the depth for cellaring. Best from 2014 through 2024. 1,627 cases made. –JM
