Aromas of mulberry with hints of spice precede angular tannins; precede ripe red cherry on the palate combined with velvety tannins and a long finish.

Vina Punto Alto, the Chilean property of renowned Chablis producer Michel Laroche, was founded in 2002. The wines are made from grapes grown in vineyards in the Casablanca, Maipo and Colchagua valleys. The two estate vineyards in Casablanca, El Chaparro and La Vinilla are planted a few miles west of Santiago to Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay. El Chaparro is planted on well draining hillsides and La Vinilla on flat land with good sun exposure. The Punto Nino designation applies to wines that made from grapes sourced from outside the estate. The principals of Laroche devote great time, care and energy to insure that these wines live up to their standards of excellence.

Technical notes

The vines are planted on decomposed granite. Following fermentation in stainless steel the wine aged for 12 months in 225 liter French oak barrels (10%-15% new).
