Wine Advocate 92 points - The 2006 Il Falcone is another impressive wine from Rivera. A blend of 70% Nero di Troia and 30% Montepulciano, the Falcone bursts from the glass with massive fruit. Dark wild cherries, smoke, licorice and game make an initial appearance, followed by floral and mineral notes. This shows marvelous intensity, plenty of the spirit of exuberance that is typical of the house, and phenomenal balance. The density and richness of the fruit carry through nicely to the articulate finish. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2026.
