Vinous 91 points - (62% pinot noir, 30% chardonnay and 8% pinot meunier; LLRAWB 00589): Light, bright gold. Ripe citrus fruits, pear, honeysuckle and minerals on the nose, with a touch of vanilla adding depth. Juicy, penetrating orchard and citrus fruit flavors show very good depth and become spicier with air. Closes sappy and long, with lasting ginger and floral nuances.
Wine Spectator 93 points - A vibrant version that shows lovely harmony, swathing the palate in satiny texture and a delicate mesh of poached pear, chopped almond, biscuit and white raspberry flavors. A lasting note of smoky mineral echoes on the finish. Drink now through 2027. -AN

Wine Advocate 87 points - The dominantly tart apple character of Clicquot’s 2004 Brut makes for a piquant and invigorating if somewhat raw overall impression, incorporating as well overt yeastiness and hints of almond, apple pip, and lemon rind. Insofar as there are impressions here that I would deem “mineral,” these are a faintly sweaty and slightly metallic note in the finish, which manage to fit the wine’s brash personality. I don’t fancy this gaining from bottle age, though I readily confess my lack of experience with older representatives. (Nov 2013)
