Robert Parker 92+ points - The dense purple-colored 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon John C. Sullinger Vineyard (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) comes from an Oakville vineyard planted in clay and loamy soils. It reveals more of an Oakville/Pauillac-like character of cedar, spice box, licorice, black cherries, black currants, and camphor. While it is the most complex aromatically, the wine is still 4-5 years away from resolving some of its tannins. It is a big, full-bodied, powerful, impressive effort that should drink well for 20+ years. (Dec 2009)
The home vineyard of Nickel & Nickel, Sullenger Vineyard is situated behind the
winery in the heart of Oakville. Its 30 acres of clay loam soil are planted exclusively
to Cabernet Sauvignon and the wine is known for its rich flavor and supple tannins.
The property is named after Napa Valley pioneer John C. Sullenger, who, in 1865,
purchased this property and developed a farmstead in the 1880s. SullengerŐs
restored Napa Valley farmstead is the home of Nickel & Nickel winery.
