90 POINTS - Robert Parker - The 2005 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico
is a pretty, mid-weight Amarone with silkytextured,
perfumed fruit. This is a relatively
small-scaled Amarone yet the wine possesses
lovely inner perfume and terrific overall
balance. The 2005 Amarone is already pretty
complete and should drink nicely with a
minimum of cellaring. Sweet herbs, tobacco
and anise ring out on the long, polished finish.
Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
I was quite taken with the Amarones I tasted
from Tommasi this year. The wines spend three
years in medium-size barrels and have a classic
feel that is very attractive.
