Chateau Ste. Michelle crafts their Columbia Valley Riesling to be an inviting, refreshing, off-dry Riesling vintage after vintage. This Riesling consistently delivers classic Washington state Riesling characters of juicy peach, ripe pear, melon, with subtle mineral notes. This is our everyday Riesling that is versatile and easy to drink. The 2005 harvest delivered excellent quality fruit. The growing season started cool, followed by 90+ degree days in July and August. September brought cool and constant weather, which extended the season, allowing grapes extra time to ripen on the vine and enhance flavor development. The Riesling grapes were harvested from September 9 to late October at the peak of flavor. Fermentation temperatures were maintained at 50-55 degrees F to preserve Riesling’s fresh and fruity character, using an assortment of yeasts for added complexity.
