"Good medium red. Exotic aromas of redcurrant liqueur, flowers, minerals, brown spices and mint. Silky and suave on entry, then bright and fine-grained in the middle, with terrific energy. Velvety-smooth but not quite thick. The longest of these 2001s today, building inexorably, with the very fine tannins spreading out horizontally to saturate the palate. A wonderfully elegant, sweet La Morra Barolo in the making." - ST IWC 95
"The terrific 2001 Barolo Rocche dell’Annunziata/Torriglione shows an aromatic nose of flowers, spices and menthol along with plenty of ripe red fruit and licorice flavors on a medium-bodied frame of superb length and structure. It is the most accessible of the Barolos and will be the first of the wines to reach maturity. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. Antonio Galloni, Wine Advocate # 167 Oct 2006
Drink 2009-2019" - RP 94
"Very perfumed, with intense aromas of plum and blackberry. Full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a long, silky-textured finish. There's lovely finesse and balance. Very refined for Voerzio. Best after 2011." - WS
First planted in 1952, the vineyards in the Rocche dell’Annunziata and Torriglione plots are particularly special, due to their calcareous soils, which contribute to the incredible elegance of this iconic Barolo. One of the greatest Barolos from La Morra. A Wine Spectator 100 POINT wine (Vintage 2000).
