NOSE: Light but rich and complex
PALATE: Lightlysweet with spicy notes of Canadian rye
FINISH: Long, peppery and warm
Wine Enthusiast 89 points - The second release in Crown’s Extra Rare Whisky Series, this XR (Extra Rare) blend is made with the final batch of whiskies from Montreal’s LaSalle Distillery. The amber liquid has a distinct fruity note, melding touches of vanilla and apple, and a long caramel-flavored finish that’s marked with hints of clove and allspice. Velvety in texture, this feels on the hot side, and is best when diluted with water, which adds softness. - K.N. (Sep 2012)
The man responsible for developing the exceptional taste of Crown Royal XR is Andrew MacKay, Master Blender. Working with the rarest whiskies from the legendary Waterloo distillery, he set out with passion and perseverance to create nothing short of the finest whisky ever made. The result is a sublime blend of extraordinary smoothness„a truly distinguished spirit.
The bouquet offers rich, pastry scents with deeper fragrances of old oak, figs, dates and prunes. The palate entry is creamy, engagingly nutty, acidic and fresh; the mid-palate offers long, expansive tastes of oak resin, paraffin, nougat and walnut paste. Concludes elegantly, sinewy and off-dry. This whisky has it all.

|The first exquisite blend of Crown Royal Canadian whisky was meticulously crafted from 50 select whiskies, dressed in the finest cut glass and wrapped in purple robes, to commemorate the first grand tour of Canada by King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, in 1939. And in truly noble fashion, this bottle of Crown Royal was placed on the Royal train as a symbol of the hardworking and genuine nature of the Canadian people.
Today, the legacy of Crown Royal remains how it began, the epitome of Canadian whisky, with a smooth taste and a regal style all its own.
