Ultimate Beverage Challenge 94 points - Some of the Scotch is finished in Oloroso Sherry casks, which accounts for the honey and dried fruit fragrance. The spirit has a smooth, soft feel and a touch of juicy sweetness. Look for caramel and vanilla and rather aggressive oakiness, finishing with orange peel. Best with some time to open up.

This malt is lent tremendous character and depth through eighteen years' aging in oak casks, including time in those from the finest Oloroso sherry. The uniquely fruity, floral delicacy of Glenmorangie is enhanced by mature notes of vanilla, almonds, and dried fruits.
Silky and smooth to the taste, Glenmorangie 18 Year Old further entrances the palate with an accord of melting honey, creamy malt and aromatic florals coupled with the arm, syrupy languor of sherry. Savor the rich, sticky date and fig flavors as they are heightened by the unexpected caress of wood smoke.
| Wine maker notes |
| The 18 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky of serious distinction. Once it has spent fifteen years maturing in American white oak casks approximately 30% is transferred into Spanish Oloroso casks to spend a further three years maturing. Then, when both elements have reached 18 years, we blend them back together to create a whisky with a rich bouquet and full, rounded flavour. |
