Purity. Density. Ripe fruit. Color. Structure and balance. The 2005 red Burgundies have it all. They are blockbusters as Burgundy goes, deep in color and loaded with acidity and tannins. These are wines that have the ability to age for a long time.
2005 is the type of vintage that comes along once, maybe twice in a generation. In general, the Côte de Nuits is more successful than the Côte de Beaune, although both areas made great wines. The vintage earned 98 points in the Côte de Nuits and 95 in the Côte de Beaune. The communes of Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Vosne-Romanée excelled in the Côte de Nuits.Soil
Vosne-Romanée is located between Vougeot and Nuits Saint Georges which produices some of the most prestigious wines of the Côte de Nuits.
Bright red color. Aromas of cherry mixed with toffee and liquorice on a hint of vanilla. Concentrated, generous and dense. Beautiful texture with well shaped tannins and and elegant oak note. Delicious aftertaste.
|The Chanson estate produces over a quarter of its own fruit requirements. The other grapes are sourced from growers selected according to their commitment to quality in alignment with Chanson’s quality Charter.
Individual plot selection produces fruit which also remains separate through the fermentation and ageing processes. The soil is ploughed to encourage the vines to extend their roots more deeply and therefore better express the typicity of the Terroir. All the grapes are hand-picked at optimum maturity.
