Glenfiddich resurrects the lost tradition of maturing in rum casks with this Glenfiddich 21 Year Old single malt Scotch whisky. Rum distillers from Sancti Spiritus, near the Sierra del Escambray in the heart of Cuba, worked with them to develop this unique Cuban rum finish. They decant casks of Cuban rum at the distillery in Scotland and fill them with 21 Year Old Glenfiddich to absorb the unique character lingering in the wood. Then they wait for their Malt Master to give his blessing for bottling - at the precise moment when the unmistakable Glenfiddich flavor reveals a new and vibrant overtone.
Silver Medal 2007 International Wine & Spirit Competition - This unique 21 year old single malt starts intense and sweet on the nose, with aromas of banana and figs and a rich toffee sweetness imparted by the Scotch's final four months in barrels once used for Caribbean rum.
On the palate, this is soft with brisk, peppery flavors, a touch of smoke and hints of vanilla, ginger, lime, spice and new leather. Warming and spicy on the finish, this Scotch is luxurious, the perfect complement to a crackling fire on a rainy night.
