Wine maker notes
The Rosso di Montalcino shows considerable class and young vigour. It has an intense ruby colour and pronounced fragrance, with an evident note of fruit and hints of cherry, raspberry and slightly underlined with vanilla. The flavour is full-bodied, balanced, and slightly tannic, of good persistency. Serve at 18°C in medium size glasses; it is excellent for first courses with red meat and game sauce, grilled and roast red and white meat and poultry.
La Poderina is located just south of Montalcino near the village of Castelnuovo dell’Abate that is well known for the elegance and balance of its grapes. Thanks to the feeling that innovation serves tradition, wines by La Poderina mature in a mixture of French oak barriques and large wooden barrels. Vineyards are geared to produce 6 tons of grapes per hectare, that is significantly lower than the 8 tons allowed by law. Brunello is produced in two versions: the regular wine Brunello di Montalcino D.O.C.G. and the single vineyard selection Brunello di Montalcino Poggio Banale D.O.C.G.. In addition to that, La Poderina produces: Rosso di Montalcino D.O.C., Virgulto Rosso di Toscana I.G.T., Grappa di Brunello and Moscadello di Montalcino D.O.C..
Saiagricola is the agricultural investment company of Unipol Insurance Company. This definition is of course correct, but it does not give sufficient merit to all the human resources that contributed to make it a reality and to become what it is today. As a matter of fact, since the beginning (1978), its main richness as been its human resources level; a young dynamic management team leading a group of people, where everyone on his own behalf works with a commitment to the top quality target that the group has decided to follow and achieve. For this reason in just a few decades, Saiagricola has become a prestigious agricultural company as well as a point of reference at national level in several product sectors. The recognition that the Italian and foreign press attributed to Vino Nobile di Montepulciano by Fattoria del Cerro, Brunello di Montalcino by La Poderina, Sagrantino di Montefalco by Colpetrone, Vermentino and Val di Cornia by Monterufoli , Barbera and Moscato d’Asti by Tenuta dell’Arbiola , is the result of the commitment of people employed there. It is this personal commitment to reach common goals that explains the strong connection between Saiagricola and its business partners. All the farms of the group have always been fully reliable and has shown consistent quality in serving consumers. Agriculture is approached at the highest level and every farm becomes qualified through investigation and development of peculiar characteristics. Saiagricola, therefore, may not be considered as a company that just make financial and real estate investments, but it is committed to achieve goal of producing just top quality products. There are not so many national companies that can boast of 5000 ha of land in three different regions, located in the most prestigious areas for the products presented; it is not common to produce ”only” one million bottles of the highest level wine from 270 ha of vineyards. Next pages can only introduce present products creating the desire to discover them better, directly. Saiagricola is happy to welcome those who want to visit the farms of the group and to meet the people who support its success.
